What Can I Expect?

The incidence of melanoma continues to rise rapidly in this country. Increasingly, the management of the melanoma patient requires multiple healthcare providers. This course is specifically designed for a multidisciplinary view of the care of the melanoma patient. The course faculty will examine common clinical issues which often confront the clinician and provide information that will help in their clinical decision making.

Registration Deadline:
All registrations must be received by February 1, 2013. Cancellations must be received in writing by February 1, 2013. Cancellations received after this date will not be refunded. A cancellation fee of $75 will be charged.

Accommodations:
A limited number of rooms have been reserved for participants for Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the Courtyard by Marriott Chapel Hill, NC. The room rate is $109.00. To make your reservations, call the Marriott at 919-883-0700 and refer to “Melanoma Conference” for the group rate. Individuals are responsible for making their own reservations. Deadline for reservations is January 16, 2013.

Course Objectives:
  • Improve your ability to diagnose and treat melanoma and aggressive non-melanoma skin cancers, focus on: the clinical dilemmas facing both dermatologists and dermatopathologists in correctly diagnosing difficult melanocytic lesions including non-traditional anatomic locations
  • Improve your ability to diagnose and treat melanoma and aggressive non-melanoma skin cancers, focus on: the surgical issues facing the dermatologist and surgeon treating melanoma and aggressive cutaneous malignancies.
  • Improve your ability to diagnose and treat melanoma and aggressive non-melanoma skin cancers, focus on: the tanning bed controversy as viewed by an Australian Epidemiologist
  • Improve your ability to diagnose and treat melanoma and aggressive non-melanoma skin cancers, focus on: the current role of systemic therapy in the melanoma patient with metastatic disease, including updated information on CTLA-4 inhibitors, BRAF-inhibitors and MEK inhibitors
